Faisel Atcha of Lawung
Set-up by entrepreneur Faisel Atcha, Lawung has become synonymous with providing many young people a completely new style of Islamic clothing.
So much so that outfits by the company sold out in northwest shops in the run-up to last year's Eid festival.
Within a short period of being launched it has already established a market within the United Kingdom, with plans to expand into Europe, America and the Middle East.
Twenty-two year-old Faisel, who set-up the company from his bedroom, says he was inspired to design the outfits after speaking to young people who wanted to keep the traditional Islamic outfits but wanted a modern twist. Whilst he received little backing for his idea he continued.
The designs are primarily directed at the youth, making Islamic wear both traditional and in common with an urban theme at the same time.
The tailored designer outfits have been designed within the United Kingdom. Lawung is derived from the ancient Chinese lao, meaning Old and wung meaning King.
